Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships in the Post-2015 Development Era: Sharing knowledge and expertise to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals – Alan AtKisson’s paper, written for UN-DESA, looks at challenges facing MSPs, examining how partnerships share knowledge both within and among networks in working to implement the SDGs. It offers a desk review of current practices, assesses needs based on the draft Goals, and provides the following recommendations: optimize use of resources by conducting reviews of programs and developing common methods to better-facilitate communication; convene an annual ‘Conference of Partnerships’; and prioritize knowledge sharing to develop frameworks further and encourage more frequent information exchange.
Comments on post-2015 final draft from climate change perspective – This Climate Action Network commentary reacting to the 10 July 2015 draft of the SDG outcome document offers recommendations to strengthen the text of the preamble and paragraphs 9, 27 and 28 of the declaration, to buttress the language on climate change. It also calls for a strong statement on the interlinkage between climate change and economic and social challenges.
Investing in Sustainable Development Goals: Action Plan for Private Investments in SDGs – This action plan, from UNCTAD, is intended to be a ‘living document’ and serves as a reference point for policy makers at national and international levels. It forms a basis for further stakeholder engagement on operational strategies for investing in, and promoting private sector contributions to, the SDGs. UNCTAD proposes a circular strategic framework that would galvanize action, mobilize funds, channel these funds into SDG sectors, and maximize impacts, thereby stimulating further action.
