Statistics and indicators for the post-2015 development agenda

The UN Task Team on the Post-2015 UN Development Agenda have released their report: Statistics and indicators for the post-2015 development agenda, following the preview study published last month.

The document presents lessons learnt from the MDG process and national-level challenges; outlines the criteria for numerical targets and indicators; and looks at the emergence of new statistical themes and data-collection methods. It calls for, amongst others, the inclusion of population dynamics in any new post-2015 monitoring framework; explores options for measuring inequalities (including the GINI and the Palma) and for monitoring population groups; explores the potential for indicators linking sustainability and development; and looks at the potential for subjective-indicators of well-being, used to measure governance issues.
